As a former professional footballer, I have been involved in professional football since 2001 having previously played for Leicester City, Cork City, Stockport County and Hartlepool United amongst others. I am an FAI Cup winner and League 2 Play-Off winner and in all, have made close to 300 professional appearances. I am currently undertaking my UEFA A Licence and enjoying my coaching journey. I started this blog because I enjoy writing and like to reflect on my experience within the game and give my honest opinion on topics that provoke me. Anyway, thank you for visiting and reading my blog. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I do writing them. You can also follow me on Twitter via @LeonMcSweeney.

maybe you should consider come talking to Stockport County and play for us again?
Zero hours contracts in football will come i believe so take what you can get seems to be the order of the day.
No guarantee of actually playing for the team you sign for especially the higher up you go.
We might be part time now but you will get to play here and thats the difference.
    Good Luck.

Hi Leon, Heard you speak on Off The Ball last night. Really interesting stuff. I was just wondering if you wanted to repost your articles on sportsbant.com, a new site I set up. It’s a new sports writing site with primarily an Irish audience. If you want any more info you can drop me a mail. Best of luck for the season and hope you get sorted in January.
